GPS SURVEYS
GPS
Surveys - MSM utilizes two Trimble 5700 dual frequency GPS receivers
and three Ashtech Locus single frequency GPS receivers. MSM utilizes both static,
rapid static and real time kinematic GPS survey techniques. Static procedures
are performed for control surveys to establish survey control in the project
areas. Real time kinematic survey techniques will be utilized for cost effective
topographic surveys, asbuilt surveys and other uses if conditions support the
use of GPS surveys. In the planning process, if satellite geometry and atmospheric
conditions degrade the positional accuracies to levels approaching the desired
maximum project accuracies, MSM will utilize conventional survey techniques
to keep the project on schedule. Also, if tree cover and building locations
hamper the GPS surveys, MSM will resort to conventional survey techniques.

CONVENTIONAL SURVEYS
Conventional Surveys
- MSM deploys Trimble 5603 Robotic reflectorless total stations in the field
for our conventional surveys. The robotic/reflectorless total station is the
latest in state of the art surveying instruments. MSM utilizes conventional
survey techniques to supplement the GPS surveys in areas where GPS surveys are
not feasible.

DATA COLLECTION
·
SOFTWARE
Data
Collection
- MSM utilizes Trimble TSCe data loggers running Trimble Survey Controller Software
for data collection and storage. The TSCe seamlessly interfaces with our 5603
robotic/reflectorless total station and our 5700 RTK GPS survey equipment. This
allows GPS surveys to be performed for control establishment, to then be used
to collect conventional survey data all in a single file.
Software
- MSM utilizes
AutoCAD Land Desktop software, specifically developed for land surveyors, civil
engineers and land planners, for our mapping and drafting capabilities. We also
use Trimble Geomatics Office software for GPS and conventional survey processing
and adjustment.
PROCEDURES
Our
electronic surveying and drafting systems are continuously evaluated for performance
and ease of use. Micheal Surveying and Mapping P.C. chose AutoCAD and its
companion products for their reputation as being the industry standard for
mapping and land development design.
Today,
our total stations, electronic data collectors, AutoCAD Land Desktop software
and GPS surveying capabilities enable us to create surveying products in hours
instead of days.
Transfer
of finished products to clients and other potential users is also effortless,
as we offer email and an FTP site for file transfer capabilities.
